7 forslag til ferie med hund

Many dog owners couldn't imagine anything better than going on holiday with our best friend. But which holiday should you choose? After all, it's not certain that 35 degrees on a beach with a drink in the group will be to Vuffi's taste...

At DogCoach, we have tried to create a small mini-guide to slightly different types of cozy and good dog vacations.

7 suggestions for vacationing with a dog

Cottage
There are many places where you can rent holiday homes where dogs are welcome. Sometimes you have to pay a little extra to bring a dog, or pay a little for the final cleaning.
You can search for several places under the criterion: with dog, or you can check various Facebook groups that have been created for the purpose: for example, the group: Dog with a summer house and fenced garden.

Oedegaard
You can also go overland and rent a Swedish wilderness. Here you are surrounded by nature and can swim, go for nice walks, hikes, etc.
In some places the grounds are even fenced so you can let your dog run free.
Here it is also possible to stay with several friends or families together, as the location is good. Remember that the dog must have a passport and a rabies vaccine.

Camping
A Danish classic is camping, either in a tent or with a caravan. Dogs are welcome at most campsites, and here you have the opportunity to sleep, eat and have fun all day long in the company of your best friend. Remember to bring a long leash so that your dog can lie comfortably outside the tent or awning, of course always under supervision.

Hiking
If you are more into action and have a dog with lots of energy, hiking is definitely a great opportunity to see different parts of either Denmark or abroad. Always remember to take the climate into account, it can be really hot to be a furbomb on a hike.

Of course, the dog needs to be trained beforehand (just like you) so that you are both in shape to hike together.

Island hopping
The Danish islands are a unique experience. Here you can easily travel by small ferries and stay at private bed and breakfasts, inns or smaller hotels or apartments.
For example, you can take the dog in the car and make a route beforehand to 2-3 islands, so you get to see a little bit of everything. You are often surprised by how different they are and what they have to offer.
Remember your passport if you are traveling to Bornholm.

Sailing holiday
If you like spending your vacation on the water, a boat vacation is also an option. Like everything else, it is of course easier to get your dog used to being on board a boat if it has been with you since puppyhood. Remember the life jacket! And to teach your dog to stay down in the cockpit. Some dogs like sailing better than others. But getting used to it is of course the alpha and omega. Smaller dogs are also easier to have under your arm, in terms of getting on and off the board if you have several boats on top of each other in the harbors.

There are many possibilities if you are inventive. Remember to think a little about what would be a nice holiday for the dog too – and consider whether you can/want to adapt your holiday accordingly. Otherwise, it may not always be for the dog's sake that it comes in the luggage, and then a better solution may actually be to have it looked after.

Really good holiday!
