December 23rd: Check-in game – a great exercise! 🤗🐾
Today we present a fantastic exercise – the check-in game. It is a simple but effective game that can be used every day, both on walks and before training.
The game involves the dog making contact with the owner of its own free will and choosing the surroundings. 🚗🌳🏠 When the dog makes contact, it is rewarded and a treat is thrown away. The dog must then find its way back to the contact and repeat the game. 🎉
This exercise is incredibly valuable as it helps establish contact and create a focus between dog and owner. It provides an opportunity to feel where the dog is emotionally during the day and how it reacts to its surroundings. 💖
There are several elements to the game:
1. It can be used to sense how difficult the dog is having with the environment and the situations that are present right now. The longer the dog takes to check in, the more difficult it is for him to be in the given situation.
2. Reward variation can be used, so it is possible to find out what motivates the dog best at the moment – it could be a treat, a game or something completely different. 🥳🍪🌟
When can the play be used?
- When the dog has gotten out of the car 🚗
- When the trip is ready and the door opens 🏠
- When the dog enters a training area or a hall 🐶
- If the dog has been stressed or upset 🤯
