Does your dog love you?

Elsker din hund dig?

Do you speak the same dog language as your dog? As a dog owner, you rarely doubt that your dog loves you. But dogs can't talk or give hugs, so how do you really know if your dog loves you?

The dog language that dogs communicate with is called calming signals, and they use it to calm us down and show us and other dogs that they are friendly. And they also use it when they want to show us that they love us.

8 signs that your dog loves you:

  • When your dog looks you deep in the eyes, it's their way of hugging you.

  • When your dog leans on you, it's a sign of love (unless it's in an unsafe situation)

  • When your dog lies on top of you and turns its back on you, it is a sign that it loves you because it is turning away the "dangerous" thing (its mouth).

  • When your dog turns its butt towards you when you pet it, it is a friendly signal in response to your care.

  • When your dog yawns when you yawn, it could be a sign that they are very attached to you. Dogs mimic human behavior, and it is often seen that when the people they are attached to yawn, the dog yawns too.

  • When your dog raises his left eyebrow when he sees you. A Japanese study has shown that dogs raise their left eyebrow when they see their owner or a person they like.

  • When your dog stretches to greet you, it loves you.

  • If your dog wags his tail more to the right, he's crazy about you. If your dog wags his tail to the left, you're not such a hot couple.

So the next time you think your dog is doing something strange, remember that he is simply speaking a different language than you.
