On a troll hunt

På Troldejagt

We love going on trips with both dog and child, and whether it's trips around our own area or around the country, both our boys enjoy it to the fullest. Nature itself is balm for the soul, and instead of sitting inside weekend after weekend, we are a family that prioritizes outdoor life.

However, we adults find it a little more fun to go really far if we do it to experience something special, or if we have a goal.

That's why we're going on a troll hunt!

Here on little Zealand including the islands, we are lucky enough to have 16 trolls, and we are slowly starting to visit them.

So far we have visited 6 trolls:
Bjarke Cirkelsten (Vestamager)
Sanka Suttetroll (Amager)
Hilltop Trine (Hvidovre)
Happy Donald (Hedehusene)
Little Tilde (Vallensbaek)
Thomas on the Mountain (Albertslund)

It's always a bit of a surprise when we meet a troll. The trolls always have a funny little story behind them, and the names of the trolls and their design are always very well thought out. The trolls are made of recycled wood, and some of them are much larger than you would expect.

Ludwig typically sits in his stroller, as we usually have to walk several kilometers to meet the troll, but when we finally arrive, he is allowed to get out of the stroller to see and feel the place for himself. Ludwig finds the trolls very exciting.

Mom here primarily walks with the stroller, so the large muscles in the hamstrings get a really good workout - especially when we go off-road or take a shortcut, which sometimes turns out to be a bit of a detour.

Dad is our guide, and the phone is encoded with various locations, and even though the leash is pulled hard from Rudy's end, who is leading, he almost always manages to stay on a sharp course.

Rudy, on the other hand, doesn't know what we're going to do. He has 1 goal, and that is to move forward.

He takes an incredible number of steps with his 4 relatively short legs. After all, he is a 33kg bulldog, whose back is barely as high as my knees. Rudy's legs are lifted countless times during the entire trip, as he wants to mark his scents, despite the fact that the sprayer was emptied long ago. HE LOVES EVERY MINUTE – and if I'm really lucky, he has just enough energy and patience for me to take a few pictures of him in the beautiful nature.

It is mandatory for me to immortalize our many trips.

Last weekend we were out looking again, and since the weather is not always so predictable, I chose to wear my indispensable DogCoach Dog Walking Jumpsuit, which is truly a lifesaver for a frozen-out-of-the-box person like me.

If you are curious about going on a troll hunt with your family like us, you can easily find the many trolls on the "troll map" on Thomas Dambo's website.

Really good trip!
